Youth Leaders
Many, many thanks to youth leaders, parents, and clergy – all our adults who work together to provide opportunities for our youth to experience the love of Jesus Christ in our parishes and at diocesan events! This page is for you!
Adults Working With Youth
- Adults Working With Youth is an annual event for youth leaders, held at Gray Center at the start of each new school year. We come together to talk about the challenges facing our youth and the challenges of youth ministry. We also share ideas and resources for games, bible studies, discussion starters, outreach opportunities, fellowship events, fundraising events, trips, Youth Sundays, diocesan events….Come join us August 17-19 at Gray Center! Space is limited, so sign up early. The registration form is available here.
Youth Ministry (Nearly) Weekly Update
- I send out a Youth Ministry (Nearly) Weekly Update to all the parish youth leaders for whom I have email addresses. These updates include information on upcoming diocesan youth events, details of parish youth events open to the community, and links to resources. From time to time I ask you for information about your youth programs – games you like to play, how you plan Youth Sunday, summer trips you’re taking – and then share your ideas with others. If you are not currently receiving these emails, please contact me.
Links for Leaders
- Please check out our Links page for a list of websites that provide ideas and resources for youth leaders.
Youth Customary
- A diocesan Youth Customary, offering guidelines for safe and responsible ministry with young people, is available here . The customary includes guidelines for behavior, adult supervision, permission slips, medical releases, and scholarship monies for diocesan events. Please download and print this important document, and if you have questions or concerns about its content contact the Reverend Patrick Sanders.
Safe Churches Training
- Safe Churches training is required of all adults (volunteer and paid, excluding Sunday School teachers who are nonetheless encouraged to attend) who work with youth. Trainings are offered periodically throughout the diocese to inform adults about creating safe environments in our churches, free from intentional or unintentional sexual, emotional and physical abuse of young people. At this time, youth leaders need only complete the training once - renewals are not necessary.
- The next Safe Churches training will take place on Sunday, August 19, from 1:00-4:00 pm at Gray Center. It is a free event. Please contact the Reverend Patrick Sanders if you plan to attend this event, or if you are interested in scheduling an event in your area.
