St. John's, Ocean Springs - The 30 Hour Famine
The Rev. Marcia King and youth leaders at St. John's organized this event through World Vision. It is both an awareness-raising and a fund-raising event focusing on the problem of world hunger - in just 2 years, the youth at St. John's have raised over $7000 to combat world hunger.
World Vision sends materials and resources to help you plan an overnight event at your church. Most lock-ins consist of large amounts of junk food and caffeine, but at this event food is kept to a minimum and there are opportunities to explore the issues of world hunger. Of course there is also plenty of time for games and fun, and maybe a little sleep...For more information, check out www.30hourfamine.org
All Saints, Grenada
The youth group at All Saints went down to Mission on the Bay to help with the recovery and rebuilding efforts on the coast. They worked hard and still smiled all the way through!
